My Flower Shower

My Mom and sisters are awesome and talented.  I couldn't believe all the cool creations they made.  From sculpting fruit and

veggies into flowers, to the potstickers in dipping sauce, to the sunflower bean dip to the mint peach mozza snacks, to the dirt cake, to the ham and cheese bread, to the pitchers of Sangria and cucumber water, to the everything...they fit me to the T.  Sitting around with so many ladies I love was so much fun too.  I couldn't craft a better day.
Thank You

Painting the Ceiling

I had been looking forward to painting the ceiling of the mudroom for a long time...Paul taped it off for me months ago when I was in North Carolina...Good thing he's patient.  Anyway, when I began painting I quickly realized I did not possess the Michealangelo skills that I had in my imagination of ceiling painting.  It's OK though that the ceiling didn't look good though, because when I pulled the tape off I peeled of a chunk of the wall paint anyway.  So I'll have to paint them both again anyway.  I'll just have to think about it for a while.

Chevron Taco Salad

Today we tried goat or chevron for the first time.  I bought it at the farmer's market where I listened to the farmer lady talk about meat and her organic farm and grass feeding and all that good  stuff for a while.  We liked it.

Horny Toads

As I was parking the gator near the lake to haul some manure off the boat I saw some thrashing and splashing in the water.  I heard the solid stream of RIBBET...Croak...PEEP, Peep...as I crept closer I found two toads ganging up on the one in the middle.  They were attached tightly and not letting go as they tossed and turned through the seaweed.  "HHMMM, poor frog I thought...getting beat up by the other two."  I called Paul out to witness this freak of nature.  Upon seeing the thrashing amphibians he calmy stated, "It's mating season, James, look around." As I looked closer I saw hundreds of little toad heads popping out of the lake, piggy backed on top of each other, swimming around, floating still and even jumping attached as two.  So that's how I learned what it means to be
a horny toad.

First Trip to Harger's Nursery

Today was a good day.  We went mushroom picking and Pul picked 2!  Luckily we could still stop at Harger's Nursery and get some plants.   We planted broccoli, leeks, sorrel, red cabbage, and asparagus, carrot seeds.  Then we stopped by the pottery studio and picked up or cilantro and basil from girls night.  We got it all in the ground today.  My imagination is going nuts!

Making a fence for Majunni

Paul is probably going to kill me before we get married.  I am on the computer creating a blog while he is out building our fence for Majunni. It was my goal to finish the fence this week so that Majunni could roam around outside.  I helped cut the island lumber on his table saw.  He pushed it through while my job was to hold it straight.  Good thing he loves me because I am not very good at keeping things straight.....Hmmmm....I wonder if that'll improve through out or marriage? At least, I am at ease about his patience.

Seeds are germinating!

I am excited that my plants are growing. This is the first time I have grown plants in succession and I am glad they made it through the cool weather.

Fresh Trout and Morels

Paul and Adam picked about 20 Morels.  He cooked me fresh trout with Morels...the best dinner...Every time we took a bite we sighed...Ahhh..We feel lucky to eat like this.

Vermicomposting

Finally, we are starting to compost with worms...I tried it once by myself at my pottery studio and was successful until the substitute janitor threw them out.  I failed at it last summer...Big huge, stinky mess!  Too much waste, to big of chunks, Gross.  Now we are working together.  Paul is following Joe's direction so it'll probably work out this time! Hopefully 3rd time's a charm. I'm excited to add the castings to out garden! Maybe I can make some compost tea.
